Nation's Capital Court of Chevaliers

Every organization has members who have done outstanding service on behalf of it and are recognized for their outstanding service with some unique honor. In the Boy Scouts of America it is the "Order of the Arrow," in the Scottish Rite it is the 33rd Degree, in academics it is Phi Beta Kappa.
Within the Order of DeMolay it is the "Degree of Chevalier." The degree of Chevalier is the highest honor given out for DeMolay service within the gift of DeMolay International. These Chevaliers are grouped together in "courts" for a set geographic area. The Nation's Capital Court welcomes all Chevaliers who live, work, or study in the greater DC Metro Area.

2008 Observance

The Nation's Capital Court of Chevaliers held its annual observance Saturday evening with an elegant dinner at the beautiful Belmont Mansion, courtesy of the General Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Brethren from the District were joined by brethren from Pennsylvania, Indiana, Texas, Québec, Oklahoma, northern and southern California, Nebraska, and Venezuela. Members of Federal Lodge No. 1 kindly catered the meal for the court, preparing a sumptuous repast of ribeye steaks in mushroom sauce, sugar snap peas amondine in lemon butter, saffron rice, salad of mixed greens and honeycrisp apples in balsamic vinaigrette, brie and camembert cheeses, and German chocolate cake. New officers elected for 2009 include Mark Wright as grand commander, Kenneth Fuller as commander in the west, Edgar Concepcion as commander in the south, and Paul Carstensen as grand secretary-treasurer. The Degree of Chevalier is the highest honor awarded to active and senior DeMolays by DeMolay International for outstanding service to the Order of DeMolay.
